Meeting of the members of the employers' association with the personal data protection service

The head of the Personal Data Protection Service - Lela Janashvili, the first deputy head of the service - Otar Chakhunashvili and other representatives of the service held an information meeting with the member companies of the Association of Georgian Employers.
The purpose of the meeting was to inform the business sector about the terms, data processing bases, principles and rights of the data subject provided by the new law "On Personal Data Protection".
During the meeting, the audience was informed about such issues as: the goals and scope of the new law on personal data protection, terms, principles and bases of data processing, direct marketing, video and audio monitoring, data subject rights, profiling and porting, informing the data subject, Priority of over-coverage of data, data recording and notification to the service, international data transfer, incident, data protection impact assessment, personal data protection officer, new forms of administrative offense, deadlines and types of administrative fines.
The meeting was attended by more than 50 representatives of the business sector, and in the discussion part they had the opportunity to receive answers to their current issues.
Representatives of the private sector process a large amount of personal data within the scope of their activities. Accordingly, raising awareness of the data protection issues envisaged by the new legislative act will significantly improve the standard of personal data protection and contribute to the development of a unified policy on their part.
