Conference on labor safety - 2nd day

The conference on "Labor safety, challenges and prospects in Georgia", held under the auspices of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and the support of the European Union, was closed today at the initiative of the business union "Georgian Employers' Association". The conference had two main goals. First, to present positions on the current situation and perspectives of labor policy from the side of social partners and its supporting organizations. Second, the conference will develop an effective model of labor safety services for employers and develop/agreed on a list of hard, harmful and hazardous jobs in the country. The second working day of the conference was attended by representatives of international organizations, employers, trade unions, Labor and Employment Department of the Ministry of Health and Labor Inspection Service. The first session of the conference was devoted to the development of the labor safety policy document of the Association of Georgian Employers. Also, based on the recommendations of international experts (ILO, IOE, ITC ILO), the ways and means of developing labor safety services in the association were determined. In addition, the Association of Georgian Employers presented to the interested parties the report of the labor safety supporting measures implemented in the organization. The second session was held in the mode of discussion. Representatives of employers' associations, experts, occupational safety managers, trade unions, government representatives and the non-governmental sector discussed the list of hard, hazardous and harmful work. As a result, the initial version of the mentioned list was developed, which will be revised and finalized in the near future. More than 50 organizations/companies took part in the conference on labor safety.
