On the initiative of the business association "Georgian Employers' Association", under the auspices of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and with the support of the European Union, a two-day conference was opened on the topic: "Existing Labor Security Policy, Challenges and Prospects in Georgia".
The conference aimed to present positions on the current situation and prospects of labor policy by all interested parties. Within the framework of the mentioned goal, the vision of the Government of Georgia on the current state and prospects of labor safety was announced at the conference. Georgian trade unions, on their part, presented their position and main problematic issues around the mentioned issue. The Association of Georgian Employers and its member companies presented their opinions on the current state of labor safety. And international organizations shared international experience and human rights within the framework of the implementation of the labor safety policy to the participants of the conference.
Elguja Meladze, president of the business union "Georgian Employers' Association", gave a welcome speech and reviewed the existing labor safety policy at the conference. Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Irakli Lekvinadze, Deputy Head of the Department of Labor and Employment Policy of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia Paata Zhorzholiani, Head of the Union of Georgian Trade Unions Irakli Petriashvili, Deputy Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Carlo Natale, Advisor to the International Organization of Employers Pierre Vincencin and Regional Coordinator of Employers' Organizations (Regional Office ILO) by Vladimir Churovich.
The second day of the conference will be devoted to the development of an effective model of labor safety services for employers and the development/agreement of the list of heavy, harmful and hazardous work in the country.
