Social partners discussed the list of hard, harmful and dangerous jobs in the conference hall of the Association of Georgian Employers.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Barkalaya, Head of the Department of Labor and Employment Policy of the Ministry of Health Elsa Jgerenaia, Head of the Department of Labor Inspection Beka Feradze, representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Economy, the business sector in the form of the Employers' Association and the Business Association of Georgia, and trade unions.
The main point of discussion at the meeting of the working group was the agreement between the social partners on the list of heavy, harmful and dangerous, which the government must approve. In particular, according to the requirements of Article 2 of the new labor safety law, within 3 months after the law comes into force, the Georgian government must approve the list of jobs to which the law will apply.
The discussion about the list proposed by the Ministry was held in the conditions of quite heated debate and it could not be approved. The main problem that the business sector sees in the proposed list is that the list is of a general nature and requires more concreteness to eliminate the expected ambiguity in the implementation process. In addition, the request from the business sector to specify job positions rather than sectors in the list was not met, and the parties agreed at this stage that the Ministry will work on the specifics of the proposed areas in the coming days.
Discussions on the updated list will take place again next week among the social partners.
