Organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Georgian Employers Association, a conference was held on the topic - "Labor safety and health - new reality and challenges", within the framework of which the interested parties discussed. In particular, the ILO, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, trade unions, non-governmental organizations, business ombudsman and specific business entities presented their positions in the country on the challenges that will follow the approval of the new draft law.
The purpose of the conference was for the business sector to start working on the formation of its own position in the process of developing the labor safety law enforcement mechanism as a result of the discussion.
In particular, according to the new law on labor safety, in the next three months, with the active involvement of the private sector, subordinate normative acts must be developed to ensure its implementation, for which the process of rather difficult negotiations will begin between the parties interested in this topic in the near future. The planned conference and the document developed as a result of it are the beginning of the said process.
Thus, the Georgian Employers' Association, as a representative organization of the business sector, by working together with foreign and local partners/experts, begins to work on establishing a better political positioning in terms of developing a law enforcement mechanism.
The conference was held in the conference base of the Association of Georgian Employers.
