The business sector in Gori got acquainted with the new labor safety law

An information meeting was held in Gori about the changes made in the Georgian Law "On Labor Safety".
The event was chaired by Beka Peradze, Head of the Labor Conditions Department of the Ministry of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection and Mikheil Kordzakhia, Vice President of the Georgian Employers' Association.
The meeting was attended by employers, representatives of pro-unions, representatives of the municipality and the business sector.
In order to ensure a safe working environment for the health of employees and to prevent and reduce occupational diseases, the Parliament of Georgia adopted the Law "On Labor Safety" on March 21, 2018.
Labor inspectors will have the right to inspect the working conditions of employees without warning of the organization. In the first stage, the law will apply to high-risk, heavy, harmful and dangerous jobs.
The regulatory norms of responsibility stipulated by the mentioned law came into effect on August 1, 2018 and include various sanctions against labor safety violators (warning, fine, suspension of the work process).
The Department of Inspection of Labor Conditions of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Protection of IDPs from the occupied territories of Georgia is defined as the supervisory body of the law.
