On August 1 of this year, the Law "On Labor Safety" came into force. At the first stage (not later than September 1, 2019), the law applies to high-risk, heavy, harmful and dangerous jobs (the mentioned list is approved by the Government of Georgia).
Based on the law, labor inspectors have the right to inspect the compliance of existing working conditions of employees with legal requirements without prior notice of the company and without court permission.
The Law of Georgia "On Labor Safety" imposes obligations on employers and employees - for both parties, including:
Creating a safe and healthy working environment for employers, employees and other persons in the workplace. Defining rights, duties and responsibilities for employees; improving the organization and management of labor safety conditions at workplaces based on the identification of threats and risk management; Having a specialist equipped with the appropriate competencies; in order to ensure the effective functioning of the labor safety system, providing the company and employees with equipment corresponding to international labor standards and developing/implementing safety system procedures; providing accident insurance for employees in high-risk, heavy, harmful and dangerous jobs at the expense of the employer;
In accordance with the law, non-essential, essential and critical non-conformities of the violations detected during the inspection process were determined. Appropriate administrative fines have been established for the mentioned types of non-conformities:
warning; fine not exceeding 50,000 GEL; suspension of the work process.
