The Labor Conditions Inspection Department inspected up to 60 companies within the scope of the increased mandate from August 1, 2018 and fined 3 of them. Beka Feradze, the head of the labor conditions inspection department, made the statement about this today at the meeting organized by the Association of Georgian Employers.
At the meeting held between the labor inspection and the business sector, the current processes of inspection of conditions, the main challenges and gaps were discussed. "Penal sanctions range from 100 to 50,000 GEL. It depends on the size of the company and the severity of the violation. At this stage in the monitoring process, the main challenge for companies is to comply with the norms stipulated by the technical regulations, for example, such as vibration, microclimate, physical, chemical and biological threats", says Beka Feradze.
Within the framework of the meeting, the business sector presented its assessments of the challenges in the process of implementing the new labor safety law. "At this stage, an urgent issue for business is the regulation of mandatory insurance of employees against accidents, which will come into effect on January 1, 2019. In order to clarify the issues in the law, the Sakarvelo Employers' Association and the Association of Insurance Companies have already started working together to provide the government with the business sector's vision of how this law can be implemented in such a way that it represents less pressure for the companies", - noted Elguja Meladze, president of the Georgian Employers' Association.
