The Association of Employers of Georgia introduced the planned changes to the "Georgian Labor Code" to its member and partner companies and heard their positions.
"We discussed the expected initiatives and the package of changes, and fully reasoned and concrete issues emerged, which show that the business is not ready for the mentioned changes. In particular, the conversation touched on the bureaucracy expected with the cancellation of oral contracts, limitation of working time, complicated procedures in the internship mechanism, establishment of minimum wage, prohibition of compatible work, payment of overtime work, etc. Ultimately, the proposed package of changes imposes stricter conditions on the business sector in Georgia than the EU requirements. We plan to collect the notes identified at the meeting and submit them to the sectoral economy committee. We will also cooperate with the business ombudsman and we hope that it will be possible to achieve some changes in the mode of cooperation at the committee hearings," - Shalva Khtsakaia, Head of the Legal Committee of the Association of Georgian Employers.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of more than 60 companies, was held in the conference hall of the Association of Georgian Employers.
