Within the framework of the vocational education and training project, an online meeting was organized by the Association of Georgian Employers, in which representatives of the Ministry of Education, the business sector and vocational schools discussed the impact of COVID-19 on professional dual education.
"For many years, the issue of professional education has been one of the priority directions for the Association of Georgian Employers. We presented our positions on what challenges the business will face in the crisis and post-crisis period in the context of professional education. According to preliminary calculations, it will be difficult for companies to open their doors to provide workspace for dual education students, since they will be obliged to provide them with protective equipment. The mentioned financial expense can be an obstacle factor for the successful implementation of dual education," - Executive Director of the Association of Georgian Employers, Lasha Labadze.
Marika Zakareishvili, the Deputy Head of the Department of Vocational Education Development of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, presented to the participants of the meeting the response activities of COVID 19 in the direction of professional education and the general challenges of the educational sector in the crisis period.
"Goodwill" company and professional college "Ikaros" shared with the participants of the meeting the gaps in the implementation of specific professional programs in the current situation.
Challenges identified during the meeting are not only the subject of discussion, but the employers' association will edit the specific activities planned within the professional education and training project according to the needs of the parties and new challenges.
We remind you that the Association of Georgian Employers has been implementing this project since 2016 with the support of the German government.
