Mediation awareness training for employers' association and trade union members

On May 23-24, a two-day awareness-raising training on mediation was held for the members of the Association of Georgian Employers and the Union of Professional Unions.
The representatives of the International Labor Organization (ILO), employers' association, trade unions, the Ministry of Health and the Association of Mediators addressed the participants of the training with a welcome speech.
At the training, issues such as mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism and the role of mediation in the dispute resolution system were discussed; Benefits of mediation for disputing parties; How does mediation differ from other dispute resolution mechanisms; Roles of Trade Unions and Employers' Associations in Collective Labor Disputes and Mediation/Experience Sharing in Existing Dispute Cases; Details associated with the person of the mediator, practical advice for the parties to the mediation/ act of enforcement of the mediation, challenges and more.
The training, which was attended by about 30 participants, was led by Irakli Kandashvili, the head of the Association of Mediators of Georgia, and national experts Tamar Surmava and Sofio Chachava.
The training was held within the framework of the project "Comprehensive working environment for creating jobs in Georgia" (ILO/DANIDA).
