On October 26, a meeting was held between the member companies of the Association of Georgian Employers and the Chairman of the National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze. The topic was about the amendments to the Georgian Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights, which partially entered into force in June of this year, and will be fully enforced from November 1.
Within the framework of the meeting, law enforcement mechanisms and decision-making issues were also discussed.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the National Competition Agency of Georgia, Irakli Lekvinadze, and the Executive Director of the Association of Georgian Employers, Lasha Labadze, opened the meeting and addressed the participants with a welcome speech.
"The law is already in force and we are starting to implement it from November 1. Meetings with different target audiences are in progress, which is very important for the agency - let's listen, discuss and discuss your proposed recommendations and suggestions in a joint format. Thanks for the interesting meeting, we are always ready for cooperation. In the process of enforcing the law, we will be focused as much as possible on the prevention of violations. Our goal is to ensure effective enforcement of the law, because, on the one hand, the rights of consumers are protected as much as possible and, on the other hand, traders are prepared as much as possible to avoid violations.
"Our goal as a business association is for the private sector to be as informed as possible about the legislative changes that will affect their activities. For this purpose, we are glad that at the meeting planned today, our member companies received information from competent persons about the news related to the protection of consumer rights, and they will be fully prepared to face the law enforcement process," - Lasha Labadze, Georgian Employers' Association.
