On November 8, the Chairman of State Procurement, Levan Razmadze, held a meeting with the member companies of the Association of Georgian Employers.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide information to the business sector about the draft law of Georgia "On Public Procurement" developed by the State Procurement Agency in order to ensure the fulfillment of the obligations defined by the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The new draft law serves the implementation of the regulations established by the European directives provided for in the association agreement into the national legislation. It is significant that with the draft law, the legislation regulating the field of state procurements currently in force will undergo a radical reformation. In particular, taking into account the relevant regulations of European directives, a number of approaches and aspects related to public procurement are changing, including new public procurement procedures, tools and innovative approaches.
The new ecosystem created as a result of the introduction and full implementation of the new draft law on public procurement will give Georgian companies access to the €2 trillion European procurement market.
At the meetings, the heads of the agency made presentations about the innovations and changes provided by the draft law, as well as about the essential benefits that are expected after the implementation of the draft law.
The meeting, which was attended by about 50 company representatives, was held with the support of the USAID Economic Governance Program.
The meeting was held in question-answer mode.
