The position of the employers' association on the need to make changes to the Labor Code of Georgia

On March 24, the presentation of the policy document "Position of the Association of Georgian Employers on the need to implement changes in the Labor Code of Georgia" was held at the Sheraton Grand Metekhi Palace Hotel. It should be noted that on September 29, 2020, the Parliament of Georgia implemented large-scale changes in the labor legislation. Also, a regulation was adopted related to the accounting of working time (determination of a 40-hour working week). In order to assess the impact of the changes made to the Labor Code, a quantitative and qualitative study was conducted with the support of the employers' association. Based on the results of the mentioned research and the identified problems, a policy document was developed by ILO experts, which presents proposals for changes to some provisions of the Labor Code, which are related to working time and pay. At the meeting, the view of the employers' association on the issues of implementing changes in the Labor Code was discussed. Also, the conversation touched on its compliance with EU practices and directives. The meeting was attended by the International Labor Organization (ILO), Danish Industrialists (DI), trade unions, government, international organizations and the business sector. The mentioned event was jointly organized by the Association of Georgian Employers and the ILO within the framework of the project: "Inclusive Labor Market for Job Creation".
