On November 28, a regional conference on the theme "Transition of young people to the workplace" was held in Kyiv, organized by the Eastern Partnership Fund, which was attended by the President of the Association of Georgian Employers, Elguja Meladze.
A discussion was held between the representatives of the eastern neighboring countries of the European Union (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) on the role of employment policy and institutions, on issues of youth employment support.
The program of the conference emphasized the support and initiative of the European Union, in relation to the solution of youth unemployment and the introduction of its practices in the Eastern countries. The focus was on three dimensions of employment promotion: the role of public employment services, broad and innovative partnerships and relations with the so-called NEET youth (young people without a job, education and/or profession). Several EU countries (Serbia, North Macedonia) have presented their own initiatives to support youth access to work.
"Employment of young people is a critical challenge for both our and neighboring countries, and at the same time, it is a priority for cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union. As a business association, we were represented at the conference to represent the demands and needs of employers. In addition, professional education is one of the priority areas of the employers' association, and we are glad that we had the opportunity to share the experience of different countries, as well as to present our practices and achievements to an international audience," - President of the Georgian Employers' Association Elguja Meladze.
More than 80 delegates working in the field of employment policy, social services and professional education attended the conference.
Within the framework of the visit, Elguja Meladze met with the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine, Mr. Teimuraz Sharashenidze, and held business negotiations regarding future cooperation.
